INEC must monitor Sunday election closely’

A former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, has said the Independent National Electoral Commission must monitor the election closely as it goes into the second day of voting.

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress said INEC must also improve the voting process.

He spoke after voting at polling unit 047 on Kaffi/Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa, Ikeja.

He said, “It is better for them to extend voting period and ensure they send various supervisors to local government areas and senatorial districts. Also, they should ensure rapid response to complaints. We did not say voting process has to be perfect in one day, but majority of the areas must substantially be satisfied.

“People are ready to vote; we call them to vote, we shouldn’t frustrate them. We called them out to exercise their civic right.”

When asked what he would do if the APC lost the presidential elections, he said, “I will have to consult with my party and if the election is not credible, we will challenge it in court. We appeal to people not to resort to violence.”
