Voting continues to night in Jos

Voting was still going on in most of the polling units in Jos, the Plateau State capital as at 8 pm due to last arrival of election materials.

In some instances where the materials arrived as late as 3 pm, the voters and the electoral officers decided to accredit and vote at the same time.

For instance at the Wild Life Park polling unit in Jos South, materials got to the unit late in the afternoon and the voters asked the INEC officers to allow them vote immediately they were accredited.

At PU 012, Tudun Wada in Jos North, officials arrived with electoral materials at about 3 pm due to what officials referred to as transportation problems. The officials said they had to be moved by facilities provided by political parties to the polling units and not INEC.

The same applied to PU 063 where INEC officials also arrived at 3 pm. Voting was done simultaneously with accreditation.

In Jos, ad hoc staff complained of lack of vehicles to convey them to various poling units. Those who managed to get vehicles were stopped and delayed at various check points by security agents.

A security agent told our correspondent that they were the INEC adhoc staffs were stopped for proper check because they were moving with sensitive materials without any escort.
